Worth Tournament Series
Men's Class C & D Divisions
(based on average of eight teams per division for entire series)

2006

The Tournament: The tournament series format is something a fellow USSSA official, Neal Whitlow created. I have enhanced it to put a little more excitement into it. It gives teams a chance to earn paid berths to state and national tournaments and travel money if they can put it together for more than 1 tournament. I feel to increase Virginia USSSA softball participation, we should give something back to the teams that spend the money to enter Virginia USSSA tournaments.

Dates and Location of Tournaments:

May 6-7, 2006

Dorey Park

Henrico, VA

June 3-4, 2006

Petersburg Sports Complex

Petersburg, VA

July 15-16, 2006

Chesterfield

Chesterfield, Virginia

Cost: The entry fee for each tournament in the tournament series is $180 and two softballs will be provided to each team when team checks in at each tournament.

Format: Teams can play in any or all of the tournaments in the tournament series. The tournament format will be a double elimination. The division winner of each tournament will earn a PAID STATE tournament berth.  All teams will earn points based on their finish in each tournament. At the end of the three tournaments, the team with the most points in each division will receive a PAID NATIONAL tournament berth and up to $500 (based on average of eight teams per division for entire series) from the travel fund. In case of a tie, the team with the highest average finish in all tournaments will be declared the winner of the tournament series.

Prizes-Each division will receive the following for each tournament:
Paid State berth and VALUABLE SERIES POINTS
Team Award and 15 Worth T-shirts (1st place)
Team Award (2nd place)

Team Award (3rd place)

Overall Series Winner-Each division will receive the following:
Paid National berth
Up to $500 Travel Fund for each division (based on average of eight teams per division for entire series)
Team Award, 3 dozen Worth softballs, and 15 Worth Bat Bags for each division.

NOTE: Teams must play in the State & National tournaments to collect travel fund.

Points Breakdown:
Finish Points: A team earns one point for each place they finish multiplied by the number of teams entered into the tournament. (e.g.: 12 teams. 1st place gets 12 points, 2nd place gets 11 points, etc.)

Bonus Points: 1st place finish: 10 points, 2nd place finish: 5 points, 3rd place finish 1 point

Participation Points: Each team is awarded 2 points for just participating. Teams will be awarded 10 extra points for participating in ALL three tournament series events. Participation points can make a difference.
